Work
A mixed bag of apps and web services for getting stuff done. Productivity, planning, organization, file converters, those kinds of things.
Pockli
Although you can “scan” documents with the iPhone camera and have them with an Apple Note, that system is missing a lot of features. Pockli (which autocorrects to “pickle”) automatically OCRs each scan, supports tags, folders and favorites and built-in annotation and signing.
Editora PDF
Web tool • This web-based PDF editing app supports PDFs up to 25MB and around 50 pages, and offers over 40 tools for editing and organizing them.
PDF Expert
Aiming to be the top replacement for Adobe Reader, this one offers all the tools you expect and is available for iPhone, iPad and macOS.
PDFcafe
Part of the getups.cafe subscription bundle, this one offers the usual PDF manipulation tools.
Ninja One
Here’s one I hadn’t heard of for any of you that do IT support. You would have heard of JAMF, Mosyle, ServiceNow, and so on. This one combines the patch management and Helpdesk systems into one, to avoid having to write middleware or go back and forth between multiple systems.
Andrew Jiang’s Palantir
This is a funny one: it’s a UI experiment for a trip planner app that makes the holiday organization look like a real work app. For people who like to plan everything for the last detail. Maybe someone can fork it and turn it into a real app!
Vikunja
An open-source task manager that you can either run locally or have them host it for you. You can view your tasks in List, Kanban, Gantt, or Table views. Compare this with:
Taiga
An open-source project manager that can be self-hosted. Kanban boards, bug-tracking and dashboard functions. You can signing with Github and Gitlab authentication so you know they’re aiming at developers.
Aeto
Freelancer project and task management, time tracking & invoicing. View your things to do in Kanban, List or Calendar views.
Meisterplan
Project management is more than just Gantt charts. And resource management apps. And Task management apps. Usually those are all separate and you spend a lot of time copying and pasting stuff from one place to another. This is one of those “do-it-all” systems that’s work a look if your organization is considering middleware to get the siloed systems to talk to each other.
Pinrom
“Run projects, freelancers & clients in one workspace.” Unlike the other project managers mentioned above, this one has an integrated client portal where your clients only see stuff appropriate for them. It includes direct messaging, group chat, task management, Kanban boards, tagging, a Wiki, File hosting and time tracking. Plans start from US$1/user.
Activecollab
A project management and productivity tool. Tired of moving between Notion, Slack, Monday, MS Project and Trello? This puts the tools found in those all in one place. In the same vein is as Bloom which I mentioned in Tool Much Fun 26.
Feedoc
Although the name sounds like a character from a Charles Dickens novel, this is a medium-strength project management platform which has been designed to take user feedback about the product then create roadmaps, tasks, milestones, documents, and then record the changelog. AI assistance integration is offered but not part of the main feature set.
Vaiz
Project and knowledge management combo platform. Another in the abovementioned category aimed at getting you to switch from using a bunch of separate platforms. This one aims to replace your stack of Jira, Asana, Clickup, Linear, Monday, Wrike, Notion, Slite and so on, and get it all in one place.
Genspark GenOffice
“The world's first full-featured open-source AI Office” So you want to create and edit Office files and LibreOffice is there, but your corporate-employed buddies get to use Copilot’s integrated features. If you want to just use this as a LibreOffice alternative that’s fine, and to use any AI features you need to subscribe to one of the platforms and add your API key.
Herond Agentic Browser for Web3
These folks look like they’re into Blockchain, Crypto and NFTs. So much so that they don’t appear to have a native Apple Silicon build of their browser. It will still work with Rosetta emulation on Golden Gate, so I hope they can get a native version out before next year.
Music, Audio & Sound Design
There’s just too many of ‘em! Forgive me if the descriptions are briefer than usual.
Both NeuralDSP and Aurora expands their range by getting on the bandwagon of vocal channelstrip plugins.
NeuralDSP Mantra
Pitch correction, noise gate, de-esser, compressors, saturation, harmonies, and effects like delay, reverb and modulation all in one. NeuralDSP tends to charge a premium price but the quality is indeed good, I own several of their guitar sim plugins.
AuroraDSP Banshee Pro
These folks have offered a similar all-in-one plugin aimed at vocals which includes similar features. Theirs includes “Lo-fi, radio, static, telephone, megaphone and pixelation” the latter of which I assume is bitcrushing, plus a limiter, widener and de-esser.
Soundghost Ekko
Delay • They call it a “scrambled cassette delay” as it uses the scrambling from their plugin Jumble and adds lo-fi warmth and saturation.
Tokyo Dawn Records OD Finesse Resonance Suppressor
If you need a top-quality resonance suppressor, give this one a look. I haven’t tried it myself but I own some of their other plugins and they are quite good quality. You’ll pay a premium for this quality though.
Sottovoce DSP Sotto Spindown
A free effect plugin for making your audio sound like it’s slowing down.
AudioGridder
Starting with NetRender and then Xgrid, people have sought to make use of other computers they own to split the processing load. This is an open source solution for offloading audio DSP processing to other computers on your network. It supports VST2, VST3 and AudioUnit versions. They have tested it with Cubase, Pro Tools 12 or higher, Logic Pro X, Reaper, Ableton Live, Gig Performer, and Fender Studio (neé Studio One). Compare with the ones by BlueCat Software.
Ternär Music Technology Flechtwerk V2
Here. We have a free synth plugin with 24 synth types based on the Plaits synthesizer. If you need more control there is a Pro version for sale.
Stigmatized Productions Fotis Benardo Drums
“The Ultra Realistic Metal Drum Library”
Baby Audio Tekno Drum
A synth drum plugin featuring 18 drum engines, made with analog modeling and it includes a built-in sequencer.
Majetone Dream Kit Zenith
Also essentially a drum synth, but it can do more than just drums. It’s an odd one because although a couple of the presets are kits, most of the patches are one-shots so if you want to play a kit you need to load multiple instances of this, one on each track. There is loads of customization for the tweaks.
Kilohearts Compactor
This is a free tool for ducking the levels of one sound based on those from a sidechain. You’ll need to register, download and install their installer app in order to get it.
Oracle Sound Painstager and Bonestager
Amp Sim • Bass players can’t just use midrange instrument amp sims so this one is aimed at achieving “massive” bass sounds. It seems to be aimed at rock or metal music. They also do several in the Stager series, like Pain-, Gore-, Core-, Drive- and Grimstager. Also check out their Drum Mapper which is an alternative to Midiremap I mentioned in Tool Much Fun 30.
The Crow Hill Company Nocturnal Gestures - Brass & Winds
This is an instrument library of brass and winds recorded in a former church in Assumption Hall, Glasgow. Generally for doing long legato notes for ambient textures.
Altitude Audio Crossfeed
Metering & Analysis plugin • If you mix with headphones, you’ll end up with a mix that sounds better on headphones than it does on normal speakers. This plugin is designed to make the headphone sound more like speakers so you get a better mix.
NodeAudio Pitchgrid
A plugin for the tuning geeks! This one allows you to change the tuning of your MIDI keyboard with tons of scales presets. Watch the demo to see what I mean.
Positive Grid Bias X
Amp Sim • Positive Grid was one of the first amp sims I bought, and Bias is back with their latest version. Now they use AI modelling to offer you a huge range of guitar tones. They say they’ve modelling hundreds of amps, which I imagine they’ve done themselves but nowhere on the site could I find out where the rest of the modelling data came from.
Audio Hertz Mk.pre
This is a preamp based on a 424 preamp. It offers “rich colorful cleans, gritty overdrive, and blown-out fuzz.”
AudioCipher MIDI Vault
Have you got a lot of MIDI files to use in your songs? What do you use to sort and categorise them? Here’s a plugin for tagging and previewing that MIDI collection. As a bonus they offer a text-to-midi function but it’s either a local model or non-AI because it doesn’t mention anything about API keys.
Rawl Harmonic DNA Core EQ and ANCHOR
They call it a “Stability Engine”. It seems to be some kind of compressor that has a different approach to the mathematics and gets a slightly different sound. I watched the overly hasty YouTube demo video and I couldn’t hear a huge difference in the sound that wasn’t at least partially caused by gain — the danger of all plugin tests.
Sabol Hill Lacuna
A multiband saturation plugin that offers tape, tube and transistor style distortion.
ZL Spectrum Equalizer
A free EQ plugin with 24 frequency bands, nine filter types, five stereo modes, and choices of seven slopes.
Attila M Magyar’s MPE Emulator
They also make a synth with lots of knobs, the JS80P, available here.
Mayu Beatz Infinity Suite
Logic Pro presets, vocal chains & production tools.
nafeu’s dronmakr
AI-free sample generation, drum sequencing, audio recording, processing and packaging tools, connects with your own VST/AU and sample libraries.
PlugPane
The byline is that it’s a “better plugin manager” but aside from the ones built into the DAW itself, I am not sure that many musicians are using one at all.
Tamber Librarian
This is a “sample organizer app” — the new name for a sample library manager? Its claim to fame is that you don’t just search on name and tags, instead you you your voice or type a description of the sound you want and it finds matches based on this. It does not say if it uses AI-based software to achieve this. It’s free to try and then US$10 a month for the full version.
ASR-V
An Ensoniq ASR-10 Sampler Plugin. I hadn’t heard of ASR-V before and I haven’t been living under a rock. It goes to show how large the audio software market is.
Jamstik Loon
These folks have been around for a while, making MIDI guitars. Then one day they thought: why don’t we make our own software instrument as well? Essentially this is a synth.
Remo deVico Shatter and LOOM
Max4Live plugin • Shatter is designed for live performance which chops samples into fragments so you can really mess it up in a creative and experimental way, which is Remo’s tour de force. Check out Loom while you’re there.
Ooame
Web App • This is for making some strange but still rhythmic music loops. There is no way to export stems or full beats so you will need to capture the audio with Audio Hijack, Sound Siphon, or Black Hole. Also check out one called Sprooto.
Refuse Software
Makers of the plugins Mulligan, Bucketverb, Lowender, Flipper, Simple Meter and Cheap RTA.
Polyspectral MBC
You might have guessed — MBC stands for Multi Band Compressor.
Mastfrog
New-to-me vendor Mastfrog has an amusing name and they make Zen Limiter, Zen Widener, Zen Eq, Zen Multiband Delay plus Mixed and Theriphone for iOS.
The Cargo Cult
I found these folks at least a year ago, but I missed the sale on their product Subquake which looks interesting. Be warned that these look quite well made and useful but don’t be fooled that you’ll get a bargain because of the exchange rate — they’re still quite pricey.
Stemsplit
Need a name for your stem splitting product? Just call it what it does! Theirs offers 2,4 or 6 stem splitting modes. They accept MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG and other formats as uploads as long as they are under 500MB each. That would be a long song! All these systems use AI nowadays. They don’t seem to list the model that is used. Ten minutes of use is US$2 and it of course gets cheaper per minute in bulk. I still have Lalal.ai (affiliate link) credits before I try this or Moises.
Kiive Audio Studio Tools
Web Apps • Kiive make a number of plugins and I have’t listed them in TMF yet. However they have recently launched a page of free tools for musicians including calculators for things like BPM to sample counts if you are using plugins that offer those values and need to match that to your song’s tempo.
BBX Audio
A vocal chain plugin marketed at beatboxers. I wrote it like that because I don’t see why they need a special plugin, normal vocal plugins should work given the appropriate settings. Also it seems kinda pricey.
13x audio Aurora
A free 24 band parametric and dynamic EQ that supports mid-side mode.
Samples
Sample.Core Ear Candy Hip-Hop FX
A pack offering 200 FX across 8 categories, plus 37 boom bap drums. Categories include Impacts & Foley, Vinyl Scratches, Sirens, Risers & Sweeps, and Vocal Chops.
DB Samples
DB stands for Daniel Blonde, so he possibly got into music due to nominative determinism. They offer a number of packs of break, fills and drum one-shots. They also do a plugin called Drum Toaster which I hadn’t come across before.
These folks are offering a large pack which consists of over 3,000+ Files, 280 Serum 2 Presets, an exclusive drum loop generator plugin (not named), over 70 FL Studio and Ableton project files, complete drop kits (presets, MIDI, & stems), stemmed drum loops, vocals, and intro melody kits.
Retroloops
This product is made from soul, gospel, jazz, and psychedelic recordings from the 60s and 70s. While you’re there you'll notice they also do a plugin Slyce Play, a Creative Sampler which as you might have guessed from the name, can slice your sample up so you can play different parts of it rhythmically.
Dizzorm
These folks offer “unique and rare sounds” that they say are “luxury-quality” Three packs are offered free for you to test out.
Torso Electronics
A vendor that also sells hardware, they offer a small range of unusual experimental and modern packs. There’s demos of the packs to listen to and a freebie there for you to try out.
Transit_01 SFX Pack
This Australian vendor offers a low-cost pack of 18 whooshes, swipes, transitions and “motion sounds” aimed perhaps more at video work than music, but there are no demos so I can’t be sure.
Kontakt Instruments
Wavelet Audio Secunda
This is a large library for cinematic or evocative pieces that consists of Kargyraa throat singing, drones, atmospheres, breath & whisper phrases, jaw harp, saxonette, screams, growls, horns, impacts, transitions, close punch drums and stems.
In Session Audio Dyad Hand Pan Drums
In Session Audio makes some good stuff, and here is their take on the ubiquitous hand pan drum, also known as a hang drum. Their site informed me that it was invented in the early 2000s. Did you know that? Anyway this one offers standard playability and an engine with separate left- and right-hand pattern creation.
Cinematic Composing Fluid Flutes
As you can tell from the vendor name, this library is aimed at cinematic orchestra style compositions. The arpeggiator engine seems quite thorough in the range of patterns you can use for the set of six flutes.
Bogren Digital Eloy Drums
This library is made in collaboration with Eloy Casagrande, a drummer formerly with Sepultura and now Slipknot, so they are for rock or metal songs.
Focusing on old PC fonts you’d see back in the DOS days, if you need to make something look like it’s from the late 80s to early 90s, check out this one and the rest I the range.
Displaay Type Foundry
This foundry has a treasonable range of fonts, but many of them seem to be those numerous variants of Helvetica. But many of the others have their own flavor. Check them out if you need something strong but clean and classy.
Dharmatype
Dharmatype seems to have been around awhile because they have a large selection of faces, many clean and impactful headline fonts but also vintage style, distressed, handwriting and funky/modern.
Arcotype
Another app sneaks into the font section. I think it makes sense to have them here. This one is for finding fonts— it groups them by similarity.
Mac
BIrc
IRC is back! But it never left. It never really made it to popular culture, remaining the realm of tech geeks while the rest of the world discovered ICQ then Facebook Messenger. Many IRC users have been looking for a good replacement for Colloquy or Adium, so if you’re one of them, have a look at this.
Glaze
This is an app for building other Mac apps using AI. It seems to use a combination of a Claude Code subscription and their own. It was a contender to put into the AI Development section, but as it is a Mac-only app it is here instead.
KeyVox
Free local AI-based voice dictation keyboard app for iOS & macOS.
macOS 27
This is more a curiosity. Want to see what macOS 27 looks like (to some extent) before installing it? This is a recreation of it done as a website. You can even open the Mail app and browse through fake emails.
Mumr
Free Mac meeting recorder. Pick your AI to help with the transcription.
Curflow
Here’s a free app for using the should-be-more-popular interface function called gestures. In case you’ve never come across them before, it means drawing a basic line or curve with your cursor to execute a command. I used xGestures for this for several years, and you can also set them up in the increasingly more complicated BetterTouchTool.
Thaw
Once Bartender came out people saw how useful more control over the menuExtras in their menubar can be. This is an open source alternative to Bartender.
Beaver
The age of small, one-trick-pony Mac utilities may be back! I used to use some by LimitPoint but they were all discontinued. These include image format conversion, shrinking, background removal, metadata stripping, and watermarking. I already have things like Retrobatch that can do a number of these jobs but not only is that more expensive, but some of the competing utilities can get overwhelming with the number of options they offer. Check these out if you need simplicity.
Helium Browser
Yes, it’s another browser! This one is a chromium based browser that has been de-Googled and claims to be privacy forward. While we’re on the subject of browsers check out:
Blanc
A minimal, private browser.
Voirssaint
Wow, this one has lofty goals. It looks like it’s trying to take over from your existing stack of RayCast, Yoink, CopyLess or whichever of the hundreds of clipboard managers you might use, AltTab, DockView, and whatever window manager that does snapping. Seems too good to be true.
Watchflows
Finally computers are starting to be doing the things we built them to do. This is a an automation building app that can do things like automatically renamed screenshots as you save them, sort PDFs into folders like Hazel or Spotless, includes a clipboard manager (they’re everywhere now) and includes an AI chat function. No coding required like you need to with Shortcuts or Automator.
Parall
Sometimes you need to run an app with some different settings but it’s already running and configured how you like it! Now what? This app lets you open multiple instances of an app, each with its own settings.
Cap
Screen capture utility • Aiming to convert som users of Loom and Zight, this screen capture app helps you share your recording by placing a shareable link on your clipboard as soon as the recording is done, plus can do the transcription and summaries like Zight can.
LaunchMe
When Apple took away Launchpad, the people that actually used it — few of them as it may be — were miffed. However now that it’s gone, developers are free to make replacements that go beyond what Apple made to begin with. This one is customizable and includes live wallpaper, widgets and file search.
SADFinder
“A Better Finder for macOS” Another person who was sad that Apple has hardly touched the Finder in many years, and has made a Finder replacement with UI changes that suit him and hopefully other people too. These include keyboard shortcuts and sending files to the trash with a single delete key press, editable path bar without having to press a keyboard shortcut, themes and a bonus window snapping tool that works with all apps. Plus it has a feature where the SADFinder window can appear alongside an Open/Save dialog.
sonorOS
This takes me back to my earliest days of Macintosh. There used to be many more ways to customize your machine. This one is about the sounds that play when various functions are performed, such as clicking on a menu or pressing a certain key. Over 32 functions are assignable.
RetroMac
Want even more customization, but for the visuals? This free utility lets you change the appearance back to Mac OS 9, Snow Leopard and more. Twenty shaders are offered for free and you can get more.
SmoothCapture
There seems to be a ton of screen recording apps to choose from lately. The standout freatures of this one include not only recording the screen of the iOS simulator app but placing it in a faux 3D-modelled iPhone that can have camera movements animated and custom background images added. One-time purchase. They also have some free online tools so check them out while you’re there.
Sheru
Not only does this allow changing the appearance of the Mac UI, it also lets you mount FTP, WebDAV or other shares as windows on your desktop, without installing any kernel extensions or filesystems.
iOS
A mixed bag of stuff that runs on iOS. Mostly for iPhones, but some for iPad. Some may run on the Apple Vision or have a companion Watch app, or they might run on the Mac too. Check each listing.
Dune Seven
Here’s a daily planner/calendar app that is aimed at the ADHD market, but that doesn’t stop neurotypical people from using it. Subscribe or there is a lifetime purchase for AU$125. Also try:
Oh My
“Your all in one life organiser for shopping, gifts and meals”
Kibo
An expense tracking app that does auto-categorization. It also supports receipt scanning.
iOS Font Builder
Fonts management on iOS has always been unnecessarily complicated. This tool lets you install custom fonts on the iPhone & iPad.
Contextly Notes
You’ve written some notes, but they are floating free in your Notes app and don’t link to your todo list or calendar apps. This app lets you send tasks to Todoist, Things, OmniFocus or Apple Reminders, and can record, transcribe and summarize meetings.
iOS AR (Augmented Reality)
Phone Spray
One of a number of AR-painting apps that let you draw in a 3D space defined by what actual space you are pointing your camera at. They generally have basic tools so don't expect to paint complex, detailed images. This one is designed to get the feel of spray painting graffiti without the mess.
iOS Graphics
ColorSense
An app for capturing colors and creating palettes. This one lets you apply your palette to mockups or SVG files to get a feel for them. It’s freemium, with more features offered in a pro version.
iOS Media
CDs
Go back to the old days of CDs with this app. It allows you to play your songs as if you had to select a disc and put in a player, rather than our more modern menu-based systems. For nostalgics who have given away or lost their CD players only. I still have mine.
iOS Video
GoVJ Edu
This is a VJ app for making visuals to go along with music. He also makes: Video to Audio which is a utility for extracting the audio from a video file, which people need to do from time to time.
ios Music
4pockets Headstack
Delay plugin & app • A multitap tape-style day with 8 heads.
MGP2 Makk Guitar Processor
Guitar amp sim plugin • A NAM-style amp sim with Cabinet IR support.
Ensemble Jammer
Live Jamming app • This is not a plugin, nor does it support using any within it. It’s designed for multiple users to be within Bluetooth range of each other and do a live jam. It doesn’t mention being able to record or export the jams, but I guess one of you could output the audio to another device to record it.
Retromulator
Instrument plugin • Called a “classic hardware emulator”, this one can emulate the Access Virus, Clavia Nord Lead 2X, Waldorf microQ and Microwave XT, Roland JP-8000 and JP-8080 hardware.
Muselead Synthesizer
MIDI Playback app • Another one of those apps for playing notes on the iPad screen. You can set it to the hexagonal grid view for easier chord playing.
Neo Drone Virtual Theremin
Instrument app • Here we have another in the family of theremin-inspired apps. Like most of the others in this category it uses the device camera to get the data of what notes you want to play. To use it in a song with other instruments, you’d have to capture the audio coming out of the device. Although there is that one app that claims to be able to do this on-device… what was it called?
Fingerlab Jynth Physics Analog Synth
Instrument app • Senior iOS vendor Fingerlab continues to expand their range with this emulator of the Roland Juno-106. Standalone or AUv3 plugin.
Tonalenergy
This one has been around awhile. Aimed at being a practice tool rather than for making music, includes a tuner (with a large pitch range) and metronome as in the title, and also a tone generator with over 20 instrument sounds.
Edgy MIDI/OSC/CV Controller
It’s called “Edgy” because it uses edge detection from a visual source and allows you to assigned MIDI CC, OSC or CV controls to certain points. I assume it can do live camera input because it mentions being able to use your hands to control it. It outputs CoreMIDI and is a standalone app only, not a plugin, so it may or may not be easy to set up with a synth on your device, but can definitely control external stuff. He also does a visualizer called VisionMOD but whoa! That’s AU$150 to unlock the full version, which is a higher price than several other visualisers.
Tape It
Recorder App • Lots of people enjoy Apple Voice Memos to save ideas they get while they’re out and about. But that one saves as compressed .m4a format so you’ve lost quality. This recorder app saves in lossless, so you can use the recordings when you get back to your Mac or other computer. You can also add photos and markers to your audio files and collaborate on songs with other users of this app.
Phasechecker
Audio Utility • An app for testing if your speakers are in phase or cancelling each other out.
Mound Music Generator
Instrument • Mound is for generating songs but without AI. You get four channels and you paint and stamp on a background image to make the sounds. An AU$8 unlock allows using a soundfont based library of over 100 instruments.
Midideep
MIDI sequencer • As the name suggests, this one is for getting deep into MIDI. You can create chord parts, arpeggios and looped sequences as you’d expect, plus MIDI delay and harmony parts. It also supports macros. It runs on iPhone, iPad or Mac, which offers you eight timelines.
Little ARP Monster
MIDI sequencer • If Midideep is too much for you, try this one instead. It is a 16 step sequencer that includes a modulation lane that can send CC values, and has a randomize and mutation function. This can be set to different intensity levels for creative choices.
Graphics
Palomino
Mac App • Fast RAW photo culling.
simonsanchezart’s textract
An application to extract textures from photos.
Endless Tools
Their byline is “Templates for real-time 3D, motion and visual content.” But this looks cool: you bring in basic shapes and extrude it into 3D and add dazzling effects. Three day trial then US$20/month.
PhotoStatistica
An app for Mac and iPad that looks at the stats of your photo library and creates charts from the EXIF data found there. So you can see what lenses you use most, or what your favourite shitter speed is. Windows users can check out JPEGSnoop but it doesn’t make charts.
Lotrista Studios Kaleidos
This is an app for Mac, Windows and Linux for creating shader patterns. You can export in various image formats and MP4, GIF, WEBM and MOV for video.
TheGrain
Grain adding is offered in many photo editor apps but the control you have over the grains is limited. This app for Mac and Windows changes all that, with more control than you ever dreamed of.
Ditther
Pixel effects, motion & image effects editor. There’s a subscription or a one-time purchase. Most of the effects seem to be mosaic based, except the dithering one.
Lumenary Vision Analog Vision Studio V2 – Essential Edition
This is a pack of 72 film profiles made from real film that will work in Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, Photoshop and Capture One. It also includes Lightroom workflow presents and a plugin.
Cuelens
Currently on waitlist. This is an “Invisible Teleprompter” which means you can read text from your screen but your screen capture software (Loom, Zoom, OBS, Teams etc) does not record it. You can also turn on locally-done transcription to save what you said as text.
Book of Shapes
Web Tool • Ever seen a design with some really funky, modern lineart in it and wondered how they did it? This thing lets you open a number of patterns, edit them, share them and then download as an SVG. It seems to be free.
VYSOR
Audio Visualizer plugin for your DAW. Compare with Imaginando VS.
Pagemajik EasyType
This claims to make “near-perfect” InDesign pages from Word manuscripts automatically. But an InDesign template, preferably one made by a typesetter must be used to pour the content into. Then handoff the pages back to the typesetter for final adjustments.
Animation
Hyperframes
An open-source framework for turning HTML, CSS, media, and animations into MP4 videos. Use it locally with the CLI, or from AI coding agents with skills. Direct Github link.
Amberdraw
An app for Mac, iPhone, iPad or Apple Vision for adding animations to still images.
FlipaClip
An animation app for iOS and Android. It’s free to try and there are various mysterious IAPs to buy.
Sorry to add a click folks, but Squarespace has already started to eat some text blocks. It will only get worse as I add the images. I think they didn’t expect posts to be as long as the ones I make. So I’m going to split the post into a part B to ease the load.
Continue with part b of Issue 32 here.
